What we will accomplish together:

Alsinova, the CRO subsidiary of the Astek Group, is looking for a Data Scientist to support the development of innovative data-driven solutions across a range of life sciences domains: from skin care R&D and pharmaceutical formulation to microbiome analysis and predictive modeling.

Whether it’s extracting insight from complex biological data or building robust machine learning pipelines, your mission will be to turn data into action and help our partners make science-backed decisions faster and smarter.

Your mission (should you decide to accept it):

As part of the Data Science and Innovation team, and in close collaboration with our project leads, subject matter experts (pharma, dermo-cosmetics, bioinformatics), and client teams, you’ll work on high-impact assignments where data science meets real-world scientific challenges.

Your daily activities will be:

Your work may include:

  • Auditing and exploring datasets from heterogeneous sources (GCP queries, experimental databases, literature)
  • Building structured and clean data environments to support modeling and visualization
  • Applying advanced statistics and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems (e.g., clustering, regression, classification, multivariate analysis)
  • Contributing to feature engineering and creating new variables based on scientific understanding
  • Assessing data quality, imputing missing values, and evaluating reproducibility of experimental replicates
  • Comparing and optimizing different ML models, tuning hyperparameters, and selecting the best-performing ones with appropriate evaluation metrics (e.g., RMSE, MAE, AUC)
  • Presenting insights clearly to multidisciplinary teams, including non-data experts
  • Participating in scientific and technical watch activities, and promoting best practices in data science
  • Supporting project documentation, methodology write-ups, and client-facing deliverables

Your future team:

Join a CRO where data science is a core pillar of innovation. You’ll evolve in a collaborative and agile environment, with freedom to explore new approaches and tools, and with access to a wide variety of scientific datasets across pharma, dermo-cosmetics, and biotech.

  • Autonomous, rigorous, and comfortable working in uncertain or evolving project environments

You:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in applied data science projects, ideally in life sciences or R&D contexts
  • Strong command of:
    • Python (Pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, etc.)
    • Statistical analysis and multivariate techniques
    • Data cleaning and preprocessing for structured/unstructured data
    • ML model development and evaluation
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and version control tools (e.g., GitHub)
  • Familiarity with biological or formulation data (e.g., sensor data, experimental results, compositions) is a plus
  • Bonus: experience in bioinformatics, dermo-cosmetics, or microbiome-related projects
  • Fluent English and French, both spoken and written

We base our relationships on:

  • Respect for employees and clients, and their aspirations,
  • Personalized support for employees and clients,
  • Regular career management,
  • Transparent communication,
  • Constant responsiveness, availability, and attentiveness.
  • Autonomous, rigorous, and comfortable working in uncertain or evolving project environments
